Adobe Director (previously Macromedia's Director) is similer to Flash in that you can make interactive multimdia animations, games, DVD's, CD's, disc menu systems, as well as stand alone applications at a kiosk. Director comes with "Lingo" a scripting language and the entire authoring platform is designed to follow a "movie making" like layout. This includes things like a "stage," a "timeline," and other metaphors for how it works.
