Tutorials on Web Servers

Web servers are the software applications, installed on a server (hardware computer system), which allows web sites and web site content, and supporting applications, to be installed on the server, within the web server applications framework. So for example, you build a server (a beefed up computer system typically). Then you install an operating system Linux, or Windows, for that beefed up computer system (the physical server). Then you install a "web server" most of the time it's Apache HTTP server, less often it's Microsoft's IIS, and much less often it's another even less commonly used web server application. And it is this web server application that allows you to install web sites (and content), including web site supporting services. Web site supporting services like adding the ability of your server and web server to properly handle PHP. So even PHP isn't something that's only in your web site. It's requires special add-ons to be included or installed into the server or web server. However most hosting services will automatically include all major add-ons, in order to compete in the hosting market.

Remember, server or web server tutorials, and subject matter in general are for "server people." For "server people," who build, maintain, and work on physical or virtual servers this is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL. For those into developing web pages, sites, and content ("developer people" or "content people") to be placed on a server, this may be a COMPLETE WASTE OF YOUR TIME. It would be better to have a web site to work on, then when you find a need to know a little, you'll have the motivation to actually learn about apache in a meaningful way. And for those into developing movies or audio recording to bring to market, this is definitely a waste of your time. The people who built this web site you are on now know absolutely nothing about building or maintaining servers. And they didn't need to know, and further, if they had known, it would make absolutely no difference in their ability to make this web site; apples and oranges.
