Individual Account Login
(your domains & settings)

1. You will receive emailed instructions,
letting you know how to login to your Individual Account Area.

"Client Area" is listed along the left edge menu, you can login there from almost any page of TechSelfHelp.

2. The Individual Account Area will contain details about your domain that only developers and web hosting customers should ever have access to! For security purposes, don't share or advertise this information, especially on a website you create.

3. If you have a domain name, tell us through our helpdesk, with your client user id. From that time, it may take 24 to 48 hours for the domain name service (DNS) to populate this information accross the internet. Which means it may take 24-48 hours before you can begin uploading to the space. It's like updating the phone book, for everyone in the world, just for you. This time period is the same for all web host service providers everywhere on earth. Even before you get your domain setup, you can begin browsing through the FREE Plesk Tutorials, inside Self Help . Plesk is the core domain management console we use and recomend (I say that without getting any kickbacks from the creators of Plesk). This is where you create sub domains inside your own domain (unlimited sub domains, no charge), create email accounts such as me@mydomain.com, password protect directiries, and so much more!

4. If you don't yet have a domain name, tell us what you would like to use for a free subdomain in the form of "your_sub_domain_name.techselfhelp.com" So while you search for a domain name to register, you can begin to develop a web site online! If you are a student, who never intends to get a domain name, that's ok too! In which case, for example, if you request the subdomain name bob, your internet address would be http://bob.techselfhelp.com. And there you can build your web site for all the world to see, no domain name registration required. But at an average price of $9 per year for any common domain name registry, we highly recommend getting one.

We do encourage using a domain name, this will allow you to take advantage of controling your own email accounts and using password protected directories. For good advice on picking a good domain name read the section entitled, "How do I get a domain name?" here. What's in a name, ... everything!

5. Read the "Start Here" introductions into web development on "domain names" and "what software should I use," and look at the"Self Help" tutorials.

6. We have a centralized place to locate "common user tools at TechSelfHelp" from our web site. Check them out and please feel free to place this link on your web site, so your visitors can download these tools quickly and easily. Please make it look just like it does above, everything inside the quotation marks, "common user tools at TechSelfHelp". Set the "target" as "_blank", this will open the link in a new browser window, leaving your web site still open on thier desktop.

7. If you have any questions, don't sweat it, just send us an email and ask here.

*FREE Tech Support applies to your web hosting, not open ended general computer or web development issues. So if I answer any of those kinds of questions, it must mean that I like you.

Be good, do good things, and have fun!
