So I'm working,
attempting to install a new and different OS. It crashes everytime before I even get started. I don't have an F6 install additional drivers disk for that laptop and that operating system. And there is no floppy disk drive for the laptop to use F6 drivers. So I find this web site "mydriversplus.com". They offer a list, a very long list, of laptops, long list of versions etc, of driver's discs (either DVD or CD you pick) for about $5, plus $1 if you would like to download it as well. So I place an order. They are going to mail me a physical copy and I'm downloading a copy as I'm writting this now. Once downloaded you burn the CD image with any burner software you like. They even offer a free burner program you can download on the spot as well. They offer payment by credit card, Pay Pal, or Bill Me Later. Note credit card payment actually goes through Pay Pal, but without special registration.

Hopefully this will give me all I need to complete the setup. We'll let you know.

I burned the drivers disc, but to no avail. I still couldn't find a way to install the XP OS onto the laptop. So I had to go back to attempting to restore from a backup image. Which when done, reported restore complete. The contents of the C drive partition looked like it had everthing that it should, but still couldn't boot it. May have to completey zero the hard drive and then restore. There may be damage to the boot sector or MBR (master boot record), as I have tried bootcfg.exe which didn't solve the problem either.

That being said, the service of mydriversplus.com was excellent. They gave me exactly what I was expecting, and for $6 (includes $1 for instant download of disc image) and in a relatively short time I had the drivers disc in hand. And for that price I would definitely recommend them.
